Fuzzy Thoughts of David

Easter in Scotland

Oban is not a big city. It caters to tourists and the hospitality industry is the largest employer. It shouldn’t come as a shock, given the town’s focus on tourism and cultural views of religion and church; there aren’t very many churches in Oban.

From what I can tell, there is a Catholic church, a Scottish Free church, a Baptist church, and a Scottish Episcopal church. We attended the Episcopal church during a Holy Saturday from Darkness to Light service (which I have never even heard of) and their Easter celebration sung Eucharist.

The church was beautiful (although unfinished) and pretty much full but skipped some seats because of covid social distancing. The choir sang beautifully and it was the first time I had communion from a common cup.

When they prayed over the bread and wine, they weren’t kidding. :)

He died for our sins but is alive now and forevermore. He is risen! He is risen indeed! And he connects us all through his amazing love and grace! Happy Easter!
